Very Bright Attic Conversion

In September of this year.

What was involved?
Our attic was converted into a separate bedroom and office.

How did you choose About Space?
I found About Space on the internet. I did shop around and I went to see a couple of other company's work as well but About Space came out best. Their workmanship was much better. When I went to view their work in Balbriggan, the guy spoke so highly of them work, I nearly walked away, I thought he had to be related to them!

I liked the way they discussed how the job would be done - they spoke in a language I could understand. It wasn't all RSJs and this, that and the other. You knew exactly what the work consisted of and how it would be done. They were very clear and precise about what they would be doing.

Also they had all their details with them when they came initially to view, I didn't need to ask - they had their insurance details and photos of old jobs they had done with them.

There were builders who did attic conversions as well, whereas these guys it's their business, it's what they do.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Patrick O'Keefe?
We sat down and I told them what I wanted. They told me how it could be done. Their attitude was if it was possible to be done, they would do it.

Did Patrick introduce new ideas?
Yes, he did. For example, he suggested that there was enough space for 3 windows. They look at every job and they see how they can best maximise the space and the comfort, no two attics are the same.

How did the project run?
One hundred and fifty percent. They did everything they said they would do. Everyone is complementing the workmanship, they're top notch.

I found them thoroughly professional in every aspect of their work. For example, even with the amount of materials that had to go up my stairs, I didn't have to replace the carpet on my stairs which I had budgeted to do. They spent the last half hour or so of every working day hoovering, cleaning up etc.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using About Space?
They arrived on time, they worked through until they finished the job. They were clean and tidy at all times. They were very respectful of the fact that it was our home and we were living there and we had children there. It wasn't treated as a building site. I felt I could completely trust them in my home. They are thorough professionals.

What's your favourite part now?
The way they did the stairs was amazing. Everything blended in so well. Also, I got triple windows in my attic and I just love them. It lets loads of daylight in and makes the room look bigger.

Would you recommend About Space to others?
I have already recommended them - I think they have already got another job on my recommendation.
