When was the work done?
The work was carried out in August, 2008.

What was involved?
We added a single storey, kitchen extension to our house.

How did you choose FJB Construction Ltd?
We found Fintan on the Pickapro website. One of the reasons why we chose Fintan was that we were looking for a local builder. Fintan called out to meet with us and came across very well. The quote was competitive and we were confident that he would do a good job.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Fintan Brady?
We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted done and Fintan put together a plan based on that information. It was a small extension and it wasn't necessary to get an architect involved. Some of our ideas in the end weren't practical or feasible but Fintan helped us with that.

Did Fintan introduce new ideas?
He did, yes. This was information that we were happy to have because based on Fintan's experience, he would be more aware of what was available and could be done within our budget. Things we may not have thought of. In particular, Fintan made good suggestions on the size of the Velux windows in the kitchen. He also gave us different roofing options and other practical advice.

How did the project run?
Really well. We were very pleased with the how the project ran, the end result and the final extension came in on budget. It looks really good. Fintan was easy to work with and to discuss the build with. They also cleaned up every day after themselves. He made good suggestions but the decisions were always up to us.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using FJB Construction Ltd?
We're very happy with the quality of the work and the finished result.

What's your favourite part now?
I really like the three velux windows and the recess roof lighting that were installed and the recess roof lighting. They bring a lot of light into the kitchen and it really makes a big difference.

Would you recommend FJB Construction Ltd to others?
Yes, I would definitely recommend Fintan to others.

Any tips for other people?
I would say have a look around at similar types of projects to get an idea of what is available. I think it's also important to talk to people who have had work done and see if there is anything they would do differently in hindsight. We looked at a neighbours extension and they were able to give us good ideas that we incorporated into our own plans.
