When was the work done?
October 2006.

What was involved?
Getting our house renovated - the attic converted, new floors put down, new ceilings put up. It was an old house so it hasn't been done in years.

How did you choose KS Construction?
I found Kevin on the web and saw that he was local - from Malahide. I got 3 different builders to come out and give me quotes for the work. And I just found Kevin more personable. I felt he had more respect for me in my own house than the others.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Kevin Stanley?
Not really. All I knew was I wanted the attic converted and I needed the dining room finished. I'm not great on furnishing and stuff so I kind of left it to Kevin to do.

Did Kevin introduce new ideas?
He did yes, he went through everything with me. He just made suggestions and told me how they would work. He explained everything that he was doing for me.

How did the project run?
Fantastic. And if anything went wrong, I'd just ring him and the minute I rang he'd be back onto me straight away and would organise somebody to look after it. We had to call him over Christmas and he got somebody out immediately.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using KS Construction?
He was cheaper than everybody else and still did the work well. And at the end of the day, we could contact him which is really important. We knew that if anything was wrong, we could call and he'd be out right away. And if Kevin missed our call he'd be back on in 5 or 10 minutes.

Another good thing was that his team cleaned up after themselves every night. I said to him at one stage that there was no need to clean up every night. And he said no, we want to leave it as we find it. I found that very good. They were very aware it was our house and they didn't take over the house.

What's your favourite part now?
Probably the attic because I'm in it most of the time. We've changed it into office and it's a great addition to the house.

Would you recommend KS Construction to others?
Yes, I have already. I have his number with me all the time in case I meet anyone who needs a builder. I know the girl I recommended him to has already recommended him onto other people.

Any tips for other people?
Move out! We didn't - we stayed in the house and it was hard work. Kevin wasn't causing the problems - it was more us getting in their way! Just make sure you get a good builder and check his references.
