Renovation, Extension
Customer reference for KS Construction as told to pickapro by Mark Kidd from Clontarf, Co. Dublin on 21-Aug-2008
When was the work done?
The work started in April 2008. It's late August now so the whole project will have taken about fifteen or sixteen weeks. There are only a few finishing touches to complete.
What was involved?
The house was completely renovated and a large kitchen and conservatory extension was added at the back.
How did you choose KS Construction?
I had heard about Kevin through a friend of a friend. I went to see the work that Kevin had done for them and was very impressed with the quality. I chose Kevin to carry out the
work after meeting with him several times and discussing the project and budget in detail. My impression was that Kevin could manage the whole job end to end and that I wouldn't need
to get anybody else to complete the project. Kevin was enthusiastic and very upfront in all my dealings with him and I was confident that he would do a good job.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Kevin Stanley?
Internally we knew what we wanted and I gave Kevin a plan perspective of what we had in mind. Kevin set everything up and based his budget off of what we discussed.
Did Kevin introduce new ideas?
Kevin was very good at offering suggestions and would ask us "what about this or what about that"? As the project evolved, Kevin worked with us to bring our visualisation to the build.
How did the project run?
It worked perfectly. Zero complaints.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using KS Construction?
The fact that Kevin provided a turnkey solution and I didn't have to do anything at all. I have a friend who was having work done and he had to hire different tradesmen to do various
jobs and it caused all kinds of problems. With Kevin, I just told him what I wanted, gave him a budget and he's managing the whole project within that budget. Kevin has also helped us in relation to our budget by coming to us well in advance of any changes that need to be taken into consideration.
What's your favourite part of the project?
The bathroom. It's a wet room with a walk in shower area which I've always wanted.
Would you recommend KS Construction to others?
I already have. Kevin's already doing work for people I know and he's taken over the project my friend was having so many problems with.
Any tips for other people?
Allow for some flexibility with the project budget. Leave a portion of the budget money aside for unforseen surprises or changes you want made later on. As a project evolves you'll see things you want to add or change.
