Customer reference for fitted kitchens services as told to pickapro by Padraic O'Donnell from Bray, Co Wicklow on 16-Jun-2008
When was the work done?
The work started in mid-May and was completed in June, 2008.
What was involved?
Larry put in a guest bathroom for us downstairs and a new kitchen. The work involved removing and reconstructing stud partition walls, plastering, electrics, plumbing and everything else up to and including decorating.
How did you choose Killasolan Construction?
I found Larry Clarke on the Pickapro website. The pictures and testimonials in Larry's portfolio were a big reason we chose him to do the work.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Larry Clarke?
We had some pretty sound ideas of our own but Larry was able to bring a professional perspective to bear on those ideas. With his expert view, he gave us extremely valuable advice on how some of our schemes might be realized.
Did Larry introduce new ideas?
Larry made some very good suggestions and modifications if you like to our plans. One particularly important change he suggested was to the layout of the internal stud walls which utilised the available space much better than in the original plans. We were very pleased with that suggestion and happy we went with it. There were many other minor improvements Larry made, mainly dealing with practicalities and things we hadn't thought of.
How did the project run?
Very good. Larry was able to start two days after we spoke which I thought was pretty exceptional. The quality of workmanship as well of the finish overall was excellent and
the professionalism and work ethic of Larry and his team on site was outstanding.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Killasolan Construction?
Larry is extremely good at communicating and keeping in touch with the client, you never have to chase him down to talk to you. He's frank, direct, open and honest in his approach and we found him to be very trustworthy. Another benefit with regards to Larry is that he anticipates problems and proactively contacts you with suggested solutions before they become problems.
Would you recommend Killasolan Construction to others?
I would of course, without hesitation.
Any tips for other people?
In terms of personal budgeting and this has nothing to do with Larry, make adequate provision in your budget for intangibles
and things you haven't thought of. Set aside possibly 10% for miscellaneous contingencies.
