Extension, Conversion
Customer reference for PJB Construction Ltd as told to pickapro by John Giles from Clontarf, Dublin 3 on 14-Feb-2008
When was the work done?
The work was started in September of 2007 and is due to be completed in February, 2008.
What was involved?
It was a very large project most of which is already completed. It started with an extension at the back of the house which included a new kitchen and sitting room, an extension over the
garage and an attic conversion. The only work still needing completion is the garage renovation and the driveway being paved.
How did you choose PJB Construction Ltd?
My brother who had previously used them for a renovation project recommended them to me.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Philip Brown?
My wife and I had an overall idea of what we wanted but as we had never undertaken anything like this before, we were open to suggestions. We had brought in an architect and Philip worked hand in hand with him.
Did Philip introduce new ideas?
He not only had good ideas we were able to incorporate into our own but were able to improve on others as well. For instance with regards to the extension, I had originally planned on one that that went straight across the back of the house. Philip showed me an L-shaped extension as an alternative to consider. I decided to go with that option and I'm very happy I did. The results are even better than I had anticipated.
How is the project running?
The project is running better than what I could have expected and is actually several weeks ahead of schedule. That's
great for my family because while the house is being worked on, we've been living away from home. We should be back in the house in late February as opposed to mid-March as originally planned.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using PJB Construction Ltd?
The biggest benefit for me of using PJB Construction is the fact that the whole process has been clear, open and easy to understand. I have a copy of the project paperwok detailing what to expect and when. There have been no hidden costs or surprises at all. It's coming in on time and on budget. My wife and I are really delighted with the quality of the work.
What's your favourite part now?
In my family it depends on who you ask! My kids rave about the upstairs attic conversion while my favourite is the new extension. We have 5 kids and the extra space has really opened everything up and now we don't feel like we're on top of each
other.
Would you recommend PJB Construction Ltd to others?
Like my brother before me, I've also recommended them to family and I wouldn't have done that if I had any doubts. Another brother of mine was going to have work done on his house and was speaking with a different builder. When he saw what they were able to do for me, he contacted them straight away and they're currently in consultation.
