Bathroom Renovation
Customer reference for Renovation and Building Solutions as told to pickapro by Deirdre O'Brien from Dublin 8 on 10-Aug-2011
When was the work done?
The work was done in July, 2011.
What was involved?
Peter carried out a full bathroom refit and did some work in the garden as well. The garden work involved resanding and varnishing the deck, painting and general tidy up.
How did you choose Renovation and Building Solutions?
I found Peter on the Pickapro website. I had met with three or four other building contractors and Peter seemed to fit best for what I wanted done. Some of the other builders were
recommending to do work that I didn't necessarily want basically to extend the scope of work. Peter not only didn't do that, he listened to what I wanted done and worked within the considerations of our budget. His quote to do the work was very competitive. The others seemed more concerned with ideas to make it a bigger job for them.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Peter Downey?
I did.
Did Peter introduce new ideas?
He did, yes. Peter visited the house several times before undertaking the work and we
discussed different options I hadn't thought of before. I didn't
think that there would be a lot of options available to me because there was a stud partition in the bathroom. Peter recommended taking it out and by doing so really improved the layout of the bathroom and its possibilities.
How did the project run?
Absolutely seamless. As far as timeliness, they arrived early every morning and stayed late if necessary. The job took eight days in total and when they were finished, I couldn't believe how clean they left the place. There was no remnants of any building work afterwards, it was spotless.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Renovation and Building Solutions?
For me it was the fact that I only had to deal with one person and that was Peter. I didn't
have to arrange for electricians, plumbers or anyone else. Peter was not only hands on but he
project managed everything. Any issues that came up Peter managed 100%.
What's your favourite part now?
The bathroom as a whole. It actually surpassed what we were hoping it would be. The quality
of the work and attention to every detail was excellent. Even little things like tile layout and what would look best in my bathroom they had thought about beforehand. Things I never would have considered, they picked up on.
Would you recommend Renovation and Building Solutions to others?
Yes, 100% without hesitation. If I have work to do on the house in the future, I won't hesitate to get them involved again. Not just Peter, his team were brilliant as well.
Any tips for other people?
Get the contractor in advance to discuss the job and the different options available. Make sure that everything is clear and understood before work begins.
