Extension, Renovation, Attic Conversion
Customer reference for S H Extensions And Renovations as told to pickapro by Barry Sherlock from Luttrellstown, Dublin 15 on 05-Jul-2012
When was the work done?
Sean has done a couple of jobs for us. The big building job started
in January 2009 and that went so well that we had him back to build a
front garden wall a year later in 2010.
What was involved?
My wife was expecting and we wanted to make the house bigger to
suit our needs. We had a deadline of twelve weeks to
get the job done. A kitchen and dining room extension was added
to the back of the house, the interior was renovated and the
attic was converted into a bedroom. In addition, the back garden was also
landscaped.
How did you choose SH Extensions And Renovations?
Sean had done a bit of work for a friend of ours and they recommended him
to us. We had spoken to a few builders but they were saying the job would take
from fifteen to sixteen weeks to complete, Sean said he could finish it within
our twelve week deadline. We chose Sean based on the recommendation, his quote
and the fact that he felt he could complete the project on time.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Sean Hanaphy?
I didn't but my wife did. She just basically told Sean what she wanted done and Sean did it.
One thing she definitely wanted was light coming in from the back of the house. The back of
the extension is basically one big window.
Did Sean introduce new ideas?
He did but it was mainly with regards to practical matters.
How did the project run?
Everything went very well. We stayed in the house for the first few weeks but then had to
move in with my parents when the back wall of the house had to come down for the extension.
The work progressed steadily as it needed to in order to meet our deadline. This was the year
that we had that really bad snow and we were afraid that it would delay the project. It
didn't, Sean and the guys worked right through it and the job was completed
one week early.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using SH Extensions And Renovations?
The biggest benefit was that the job was completed earlier than expected, on budget and the quality
of the work is excellent. The experience turned out better than expected.
What's your favourite part now?
The new kitchen and dining room extension. We actually spend more time in that area now as opposed
to the old sitting room because of the extra space, the light and the warmth. It's the warmest room
in the house, Sean did a great job insulating.
Would you recommend SH Extensions And Renovations to others?
I would and I have already. Anyone whose been looking to have work carried out on our road, I've given
them Sean's name.
Any tips for other people?
If you're considering a move because the house is getting too small for your needs, get
an extension. We had thought of moving but we liked our road and really didn't want to
leave. The extension and conversion made all the difference.
