Bloom 2009 Gold Medal
A Gold Medal winner at Bloom 2009, this garden was designed to be a relaxing oasis of simple materials and planting within an urban environment. The garden can be a medium sized urban courtyard retreat for city dwellers or a garden that can be created within a park or an office courtyard. The key plants used are native birch trees planted on a grid pattern and also the tightly planted and clipped Irish yew hedging. We have selected plants that can be sourced in Ireland but that also grow well in Ireland whether they are native or foreign imports originally. Hint! Click on any thumbnail to see a bigger picture. | A curved natural stone pathway leads from the garden entrance to the seating area. The path winds through a planted area birch trees. The idea of using the birch is that they will filter the sunlight, give some height to the garden and will encourage fauna into the garden. |
 A reflection pond divides the main planting area from the seating area. |  A feature wall to the rear of the garden holds the vertical water elements, it is planted on top and the entire wall acts as a backdrop bringing the horizontal lines upwards to create visual interest. |
