Sloped Garden
Customer reference for Earthworks Landscape Services as told to pickapro by Lidia Williams from Cabinteely on 03-Feb-2006
When was the work done?
Summer 2005.
What was involved?
Quite extensive, hard landscaping. The garden was sloped and Earthworks put in terraces to get rid of the slope. They did a lot of paving - we got rid of grass and replaced it with a mix of gravel terraces and steps. And they put in new topsoil and planting.
How did you choose Earthworks Landscape Services?
Earthworks had previously worked with the builder that did the house renovation. We got 3 tenders for the work. Earthworks came in the lowest and were recommended by the builder, who I trusted.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Darragh Connolly?
Very much so. I'm a retired architect and have definite views on hard landscaping.
Did Darragh introduce new ideas?
Yes, in a few areas. For example, I wasn't sure how to handle the different levels and needed his advice on that. He also suggested certain new materials like interlocking tobamore for the retaining walls.
We discussed everything and the final solution was very good indeed.
How did the project run day to day? Was there any disruption?
They were incredibly busy so couldn't start straight away. But once they were on the job, it was done very quickly and efficiently.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Earthworks?
Their understanding of what I was trying to achieve. They had very good advice on planting as well.
What's your favourite part now?
All of it.
Would you recommend Earthwork Landscape Services to others?
Yes.
Any tips for other people?
The renovation project became bigger than we anticipated. For example, you start something, come across something else and realise you may as well do it. So, it's as well to have some flexibility.
