Essential Gardens was founded and has been successfully run by Stafford Farrell for 15 years. Our garden designer is Brian O'Hara, a full member of the GLDA and a silver medal winner at "Bloom In The Park 2007*" and "Bloom In The Park 2008"

Brian O'Hara brings a unique perspective and experience to garden design and landscaping. He has a formal training in design with a fine art degree from Bonn and a later role as chief aesthetic coordinator for a large German retailer, Tegut.

Brian first brought his design skills to garden design and landscaping while working with New York garden designer John Blackmore. In 2004 Brian returned to Ireland to specialise in modern yet timeless urban, suburban and, increasingly, rural gardens of all sizes. Our plants and planting schemes come primarily from the highly acclaimed Mount Venus Nursery with the aim of achieving a well balanced plant society resulting in sustainability and low maintenance, with an ecological approach.

Brian believes that garden design is an art form, the beauty stemming from its functionality and not just from random decoration. Every area and piece of material should fit comfortably together like a jigsaw with attention to small detail being essential.

Our speciality is in fully designed gardens however we also do partial makeovers and cleanups. Because we are a smaller sized company, best practice and quality control are strengths we can guarantee and are proud of. We also believe in completing our projects as promptly as possible with continuous work on site and constant contact with the client.

Our philosophy is to create timeless uncomplicated gardens to suit our clients lifestyles in a manner which is functional, aesthetic and cost effective for our clients.
