Large Garden
Customer reference for Sean Mulvey Landscapes as told to pickapro by Pat O'Reilly from Co. Kildare on 17-Jan-2006
When was the work done?
Between September and December of 2005.
What was involved?
It's a new house on a large site. We needed a lawn plus shrubs and trees.
Sean completely cleared the site, including all the rubble and timbers left by the builders. Then he measured exactly how much top soil was needed and got several quotations for very good quality top soil. Then he organised delivery of soil, raking, rolling, seeding, fertilising.
The grass is up now and it looks great.
A number of people have called to the house and wanted to know who did it.
The next stage is laying out shrubs and trees. Sean recommended that we'd wait for the New Year for that.
How did you choose Sean Mulvey?
A friend of mine from Kildare told me about Sean - he said that he was a very good fellow and that he had done some very good landscaping work. Sean told me how much it would cost and exactly how he would do it.
For example, he would clear the site fully first and only use very good quality soil. And it has made a hugh difference. The lawn had no weeds and looks great.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Sean Mulvey?
To tell you the truth, I'm not a gardener and I don't want to become a gardener. I told him I wanted a garden that was low maintenance. He said fine, he knew exactly what I wanted.
Did Sean Mulvey introduce new ideas?
Yes. He came up with the full proposal.
And he was very proactive during the project too. For example, he removed the kerbing bricks on the driveway so that the top soil truck couldn't crack them and then replaced them afterwards. A lot of companies would just have put some planks over them.
What was the project process - day to day?
Sean project managed the job perfectly - I didn't have to be involved.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Sean Mulvey?
I knew he was a guy I could trust. I didn't have to be there. It took all the stress out of it.
Also, his quotation was good. My architect had told me roughly speaking what the price should be and he said that Sean's quote was very good.
What's your favourite part now?
The views are beautiful.
Would you recommend Sean Mulvey to others?
Absolutely. He will do a very professional job.
I've already recommended him to my brother-in-law - he's going to landscape the garden in his new house.
And my architect has added him to his books.
Any tips for other people?
Not really. If you get Sean Mulvey, he'll do a very good job.
