When was the work done?
Mervin has done work for me on several occasions both for a business I have and my residence. The business work took place in March or April 2010 and the residential job was done at a later date.

What was involved?
First for the business, Mervin painted the full interior - walls, ceilings and doors. Exterior wise, it’s a redbrick building with architraves and windows and Mervin painted those as well. The business paint job was completed to such a high standard that I had Mervin back to paint the kitchen and three bedrooms in my house.

How did you choose The Fitzwilliam Painting Company?
A friend of mine recommended Mervin to me. Even with the recommendation, I got three quotes from painters to do the business work. Mervin may not have been the cheapest but I chose him because he came across as the most professional,which was important to me.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Mervin Phelan?
We had a rough idea with regards to colour schemes.

Did Mervin introduce new ideas?
Mervin was very helpful with regards to recommending certain types of paint for specific areas of the business premises. We get a fair amount of footfall inside and Mervin suggested certain paints that would wear better, be easier to clean and wouldn’t mark up as bad.

How did the project run?
I found the project to be very professional. My business gets a lot of traffic coming through during the daytime but Mervin and his team were invisible. They cleaned up after themselves every day and things were put back as they had been before. There were some areas of the business that they could only paint in the evening so when that happened, they would work straight through the night.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using The Fitzwilliam Painting Company?
Overall it was the quality of the work, Mervin’s professionalism and at the end of the day, the overall value for money. The whole project from start to finish was exactly what we wanted it to be. Trust is a major factor with me and with Mervin I had no doubts as to his integrity and trustworthiness. I felt he really had our interests at heart.

What's your favourite part now?
To be honest with you, I don’t get too excited about colours on walls but I would have an eye for detail and the finish was even better than I expected. There were definitely some tricky areas but it was all done seamlessly. During some of the overnight work they would need to move furniture, desks and computers but when we came back in the morning everything was back just as we had left it.

Would you recommend The Fitzwilliam Painting Company to others?
I’ll go better than that. Not only have I recommended Mervin to others on three or four occasions, we’ve allowed Mervin to use us as a personal reference.

Any tips for other people?
Two things, really. Always get at least two quotes and I think it’s important to get a recommendation as well. Trust and integrity is very high on my list and anytime we’ve employed a decorator, electrician or painter, we’ve gone with those who have been recommended to us.
