When was the work done?
The work was done in July, 2008. What was involved?
The soundproofing of one complete side of our house, both upstairs and downstairs that is adjoining a neighbours house. We were having problems with noise coming through the walls from our neighbours side. There were frequent parties, yelling, doors slamming and tv. It was more than the normal type of noise we should have been hearing.
How did you choose Cunas?
I happened to see Dave's van when it was parked at some traffic lights. I chose Dave to carry out this work after speaking to him and explaining what the problem was. He sounded very genuine about what he could do to help with the noise.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to David Fitzgerald?
I knew exactly what I wanted done, yes.
Did David introduce new ideas?
The work itself was pretty straightforward but he did give us options on doing part of the work now and the rest at another time if we wanted to save money. The noise problem was so bad though that we wanted the whole project done straight away. We didn't want to wait.
How did the project run?
Excellent. Dave and his team were very clean from start to finish. They were particular about leaving the house in the same condition as it was in when they started. It was one of my main concerns going into this project because I had spent a lot of time decorating the house and I was worried that by having this work done, it wouldn't look the same in the end. I did lose a few inches because of the soundproofing material they used in the walls but that's it. Everything looks exactly as it did before the work started. One thing I would also like to mention is that when the bathroom was soundproofed we had to take down the shower stall from the wall. Dave came back after the project was completed and he rehung it. It was nice because even though they had already finished and it wasn't their job to do, they did. My husband wasn't left having to put it back himself. I thought it was a nice touch.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Cunas?
The fact that Dave was very reassuring and confident about being able to greatly improve the noise situation. There haven't been any parties since the work has been done so it hasn't been put to that test yet, but we have noticed that we don't hear any of the other noises anymore. We're very pleased with the results.
What's your favourite part now?
Two things really, the noise has been greatly reduced and the decor of the house has not been effected. It looks just as it did before.
Would you recommend Cunas to others?
Yes, definitely.
Any tips for other people?
It's not cheap but regardless of the cost, if you're experiencing noise problems it's a small price to pay for your sanity and peace of mind. It was definitely money well spent.
