When was the work done?
The work was carried out in April, 2009 and took two weeks to complete.
What was involved?
I was hearing noises from the house next door so I had the downstairs sitting room, dining room and bedroom of my home soundproofed. It's not that the neighbours were noisy, it's just that I live in an older period house and normal noises like the television, phones ringing and talking were coming through the walls. Nothing loud but it was intruding.
How did you choose Cunas?
David was recommended to me by a friend of mine. He came over to the house, did an assessment of the situation, put a plan together and we agreed a price.
Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to David Fitzgerald?
I didn't have any definite ideas other than wanting the problem corrected.
Did David introduce new ideas?
He did, yes. David was brought in to see what was possible and he did what was necessary.
How did the project run?
Very well. The guys doing the work were great, very reliable and stuck with it until it was done. David himself is a good guy to deal with. Being an older house the work was dirtier than it would have been with a newer home since more work was
involved, but David brought in a contract cleaner at the end of the job to clean everything up. The house was left just as it had been before.
What was the biggest benefit to you of using Cunas?
We're very happy with the result. David's a nice fellow and very meticulous in his work. The soundproofing was carried out on the main wall but in order to maintain the symetry of how everything looked originally, David removed the fireplace and chimney breast to do the work and then replaced them as before. The same was the case with the old cornicing. Looking at the room now, you'd never know that work had been carried out.
What's your favourite part now?
It's much quieter than it had been. You'll occassionally get the odd noise but nothing on the order of what it was before.
Would you recommend Cunas to others?
I would, yes.
Any tips for other people?
If you can do this type of work before you've done any other work on the house or do it as part of an overall renovation, do it.
